Ban.do

Check out the beautiful designs by ban.do! Ban.do is divided into 3 collections and a bridal line.

The black label is the couture collection which features only one of a kind or limited edition pieces. Each piece is handmade from vintage materials and comes with its own haiku (cute!) Prices start at $200.

The ban.do collection are also vintage-inspired, handmade, and accompanied by a haiku though they are not one-of-a-kind. They are, however, a tad bit more affordable.

Heart by ban.do is super affordable! Each piece has the same vintage style but is priced $50 and under.

Getting Married?

Now that I’m engaged, I am instantly interested in bridal fashion. Since I am a headband aficionado, it makes perfect sense for me to opt for a headband over the traditional veil. Some designs, however, let you have the best of both worlds- a veil attached to a headband! View some of my favorite bridal headbands below.

Jennifer Behr: Spring 2010

Once again, we look to Jennifer Behr to define the new season’s trends in hair accessories and, in Gossip Girl terms, this season is no Blair Waldorf. This season’s designs reflect Serena Van Der Woodsen’s style: effortless, edgy, downtown chic. The rosette headband (previously worn by Miss Waldorf) gets an update into cool denim- an accessory Serena would easily pair with a leather jacket and boots. But don’t worry Blair fans- the grosgrain headwrap with simple crystal bow is the perfect mix of preppy and feminine to fit your Upper East Side needs.

Runway: Milly Spring 2010 RTW

Although she is known for her bright sixties-inspired shift dresses, Milly’s Michelle Smith debuted a spring collection with a little more edge. Instead of focusing on springy pastels and florals, Smith based her collection on the color black stating that “basing a whole collection around the color black felt really fresh and unexpected.” The models wore exaggerated bows of airy black chiffon tied at the base of their side ponytails to create a 60’s meets 80’s look.

To achieve this look first make a deep side part and gather all of the hair on the right side of the head and secure with a ponytail holder directly above the ear. Tie a large square of chiffon fabric at the base of the ponytail and spray the hair with Bumble and Bumble does it all styling spray to create texture and provide a lasting hold.

Bambako Preview: Spring 2010

By now it is no secret that I am a huge fan of Bambako, but Abigail Ricarte has really outdone herself with her spring 2010 collection. The new headbands are ethereal with their sheer silk ribbons yet hip with their neon 80’s elastic. New bows and barrettes are introduced to the collection clasped with gemstones- the perfect touch! Old designs are reintroduced in playful new colors or reworked with a floral twist. The headbands and bows are bright and colorful- indicative of an energetic spring to come.

Designer: Bambako

Bambako

I am absolutely in love with Bambako’s beautiful headbands! Each piece is intricately designed with feminine details of feathers, ribbon, and bows (all of my favorite things!) The intricacies combined with perfect color combinations make each headband a necessity, not accessory, to any outfit.

There will be a Bambako trunk show at Henri Bendel August 3rd-6th, and the fall collection will be available soon!
